The Video Entertainment segment of Naspers is a broad-based multinational media group headquartered in South Africa and  Dubai with principal operations in pay television and video entertainment. The group operates in almost 50 countries in Africa.  Its holding company, Naspers, is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and has an ADR listing on the London  Stock Exchange (LSE). International investors account for around 50% of its shareholder base. 

An African platform operator, Video Entertainment’s expertise lies distributing media products, creating media content and  selling advertising. Its key areas of operations are: 

▪ Pay Television: direct-to-home satellite and digital terrestrial television services; and 

▪ SVOD: subscription video on demand services across multiple online platforms with a focus on library and local content in  developing markets  

Operating in the majority of African countries, Video Entertainment is the leading Pay TV provider in most of the key African markets. Its strategy is to offer the best local and international content across multiple platforms to customers wherever they  are.  

The group’s strength lies in its focus on local language and culture, its entrepreneurial spirit and the quality of its workforce.  Over the years Video Entertainment has built a successful track record of identifying trends early, adapting them for the markets  in which it operates and leveraging them to maximum advantage. The group generates revenues mainly by collecting  subscription fees, with a moderate contribution from advertising revenue. Its key objectives are to:

Purpose of the Position:

To optimize digital marketing effectiveness, in close collaboration with the brand, partnership and CRM functional  areas. Ensure effective marketing campaign execution in all digital channels across search, social, display and  video advertising. 

 

Your mission:

 

  • Develop the integrated digital marketing strategy that supports the  achievement of the business’ acquisition and retention targets,  describing how each digital channel (paid and unpaid search, paid and  unpaid social, display, video) should contribute. 

  • Develop the digital marketing strategy that supports the achievement of  the business’ acquisition and retention targets.

  • Ensure the efficient implementation of the defined strategy.

  • Head up a team with 3-4 channel managers for the key digital channels  and support them in effectively executing strategies and initiatives,  prioritizing and optimizing the performance of each channel.

  • Collaborate closely with the acquisition head and team to coordinate  campaigns across offline and online channels, optimize the creatives for  digital channels while keeping the brand in line with other channels, etc.

  • Collaborate closely with the analytics team to have the relevant data at  the disposal of the digital marketing team, develop insights on the  effectiveness of the different (parts of) campaigns, set up basic attribution  modeling, as well as providing the right insights and reports to  management.

 

Experience you should have:

 

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in digital marketing, ideally in an e-commerce / online activity ▪ Experience in leading and managing social media, email, display and video advertising campaigns as well  as retargeting campaigns.

  • Experience in optimizing landing pages and user funnels, with a detailed understanding of multi-channel  tracking and attribution tools and methodologies and with A/B and multivariate experiments ▪ Experience in leading, managing and optimising performance marketing campaigns (incl. Google Adwords,  Facebook) and SEO/SEM.

  • People management experience.

  • Strong analytical skills, data-driven thinking, proofreading/editing and copywriting skills.

  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends).

  • Working knowledge of ad serving tools (e.g., DART, Atlas), HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints.

  • Campaign Management, Data Modeling, Commercial awareness.
